I got this wrong for two years

I treated it as a tool problem.

I kept looking for the right app, the right instruction, the right guide. I assumed there was a trick I hadn't found yet, and that the people producing real work with this knew something technical that I didn't.

They didn't. I checked. Repeatedly, and slightly embarrassingly.

That sounds obvious written down. It wasn't obvious at the time, because everything I'd read was about capabilities and nothing was about my actual week.

Once I started from my week instead of from the tool, three things changed within about a month — and none of the three were things I'd have picked if you'd asked me in advance.
